Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act states that no person shall be excluded participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination on the grounds of race, color or national origin.

As a recipient of federal dollars, SRTC is required to have a Title VI Plan that outlines how Title VI principles are implemented and monitored at the agency. SRTC’s plan has recently been updated to reflect staffing changes and new methods used to reach members of the public, and now we need input on it.

To give members of the public a chance to review, ask questions and provide input on the draft Title VI Plan, SRTC staff will be at the Hillyard Farmer’s Market, at the corner of Queen and Market streets, from 3-6 p.m. on Monday, July 30.

For those who can’t attend, the draft plan can be found at https://www.srtc.org/about-srtc/title-vi-ej-ada/. Comments can be submitted by emailing contact.srtc@srtc.org, calling (509) 343-6370 or mailing to SRTC at 421 W. Riverside, Suite 500, Spokane, WA 99201. All comments must be received by 4 p.m. on August 8, 2018.

Upon completion of the comment period, the draft plan will be submitted to the Washington State Department of Transportation’s (WSDOT’s) Office of Equal Opportunity.
